1 October 2022 – The Municipality of Hungduan celebrated its 105th Founding Anniversary with Provincial Governor Jerry U. Dalipog as the guest speaker.
“It is the first time that we are celebrating our foundation day and we thank the previous leaders for their leadership,” Hon. Pablo M. Cuyahon, SB Committee Chairperson on Tourism, Trade and Industry said in his welcome remarks.
“Sapay kuma ta itultuluy taku hituwen celebration di etaku foundation kada to-on (I hope we continue to celebrate our foundation day every year.)” Cuyahon said.
“During the American Regime, Ifugao was one of the seven sub-provinces of Mountain Province pursuant to Act No. 2657 known as the Administrative Code of the Philippine Islands dated December 31, 1916. Act 2657 was amended by Act 2711 also known as the Revised Administrative Code and effective October 1, 1917, Hungduan emerged as one of the municipal districts that comprised the sub-province of Ifugao. On April 4, 2022, Municipal Ordinance No. 140, Series of 2022 was enacted declaring October 1 of every year as the Official Founding Anniversary of Hungduan,” Ms. Jocelyn H. Dulnuan, Secretary to the Sangguniang Bayan enunciated in her Information Education Campaign on the Hungduan Day Ordinance.
“The occasion is yet another opportunity for the community to come together and celebrate our creation as a Municipality. It gives us a chance to communally look back over the years and reflect how it has shaped us,” Municipal Mayor Casan P. Dumulag said in his message.
He expressed his genuine gratitude to all the leaders of the Municipality since its creation, to all civil servants of the Local Government Unit then and now for their tireless delivery of government programs and services, to partner line agencies and the private and public sector, and to all i-Hungduans.
“As we look back and acknowledge our own beginnings, let us not allow human frailties to rule us, instead, allow the values of the past which demonstrated humanity, forbearance, dedication, and courage to help us as we work together for the continued betterment of our beloved Hungduan,” Dumulag articulated.
During the said celebration, Certificate of Recognition were presented to the political leaders of the Hungduan since 1917.
In his keynote speech, Governor Jerry U. Dalipog conveyed his appreciation to the men and women who played important roles for the commendable performance of the local government unit in the past years.
“2020 brought daunting challenges but you have worked harder than ever to deliver vital services to our constituents most especially our vulnerable ones,” Provincial Governor Jerry U. Dalipog pronounced in his keynote speech.
Gov. Dalipog spoke of a number of infrastructure projects in the pipeline benefiting the Municipality including opening of roads particularly San Fernando, Banaue to Lubo-ong, Maggok to Poblacion to Bangbang, and Bangbang to Balawis.
In his closing remarks, Municipal Vice-Mayor Romeo L. Haguyayap reiterated the appreciation of the LGU to the participation of everyone in the conduct of the 105th Foundation Day. He acknowledged the efforts of former Vice-Mayor Lucas A. Bugatti and members of the Sangguniang Bayan for passing the Hungduan Day Ordinance.
“The Sangguniang Bayan under the leadership of Vice-Mayor Bugatti enacted the Ordinance which was declared valid and operative by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Ifugao,” Haguyayap said.
The festivity commenced with a parade participated by the Hungduan Municipal Police Station, Hungduan Fire Station, Commission on Election, Department of Education- Hungduan District, Ifugao State University-Hapao Campus, Department of Interior and Local Government-Hungduan Field Office, Provincial District Hospital of Hungduan, all 9 barangays of Hungduan, municipal and barangay wide civil society organizations.
The occasion concluded with a public dance and lunch. #
