02 December 2020 – The Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) facilitated the 3rd delivery of food supplies for daycare children in the implementation of the Supplemental Feeding Program (SPF). Mr. Gian Carlo L. De Guzman from DSWD-CAR, Baguio and the SFP Focal Person for Ifugao, inspected the supplies before these were handed over to the daycare workers to share to the daycare children in their respective barangays. The 1st distribution of food supplies to 232 enrolled daycare children commenced on 6 October 2020.
SFP is the provision of food in addition to the regular meals to children ages 3-4 years old enrolled in Child Development Centers. SFP is part of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)contribution to the Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) program of the government. The ECCD Council Advisory No. 2, Series of 2020 mentions that during the pandemic, all children aged 0-4 years shall be provided the full range of health, nutrition, early education and social services in their homes or at alternative venues and shall not be allowed to be physically present for face-to-face sessions in designated centers.
The Municipal Local Government Unit through the MSWDO, as the partner agency of the DSWD’s, will facilitate, monitor and supervise the implementation of the SFP program in the daycare centers. The Municipality of Hungduan has a total of 20 daycare centers covering all the 9 barangays.
